The Math/Science/Computer Program, MSC, located at Churchill High School, is a four year program. Thirty students are selected for the incoming 9th grade class. Students must have completed Algebra 1 by the end of 8th grade in order to apply for MSC for 9th grade. Applications are normally only accepted for the incoming 9th grade class.

The curriculum is specifically designed for students who have an intense interest in math and science. The courses are taught at a faster pace and in greater depth. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program gives students the opportunity to pursue college-level studies and receive advanced placement and/or course credit upon entering college. In the MSC program, AP courses are required in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, and Statistics. Students in the MSC program take their MSC courses as a prescribed curriculum and select their remaining courses from the regular Churchill High School course offerings. All MSC students become full time students at Churchill High School.

MSC (housed at Churchill High School):

The Livonia Public Schools Math/Science/Computer(MSC) Program is designed for students who have high ability and high interest in the areas of math and science. MSC students spend half of their day in the MSC Program and the other half of their day in the regular high school program.

Eighth grade students who will have completed Algebra 1 by June 2014 are eligible to apply for the MSC Program for 9th grade. MSC students become full-time Churchill High School students. Transportation to CHS for MSC students is provided by the school district from the student’s home high school (FHS or SHS). LPS students and parents will be notified of the opportunity to apply to the MSC Program in late October 2013. Testing for the program for fall 2014 is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2013. The MSC Program is open only to students who live in the Livonia Public Schools School District. Because of the testing that needs to be completed for admission consideration, non-LPS students should request an application for fall 2014 by Friday, October 18, 2013.

Parents living in the LPS School District whose 8th grade children are not currently enrolled in an LPS school and who would like more information about the MSC program and the application process should contact Douglas Coates, MACAT and MSC Facilitator, at 734-744-2650 Ext. 46132, or via email at
