Our Community

Livonia and Westland are located approximately 25 miles west of Detroit. The communities are served by a modern network of expressways, allowing residents convenient access to the many cultural opportunities available in Detroit including museums, restaurants, the acclaimed Detroit Symphony Orchestra, professional sports teams, and numerous entertainment venues. The I-275 expressway, which forms the western boundary of our communities, has spawned one of the premier high-tech corridors in the nation.

World famous Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum, The University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Eastern Michigan University, the University of Detroit, and Wayne State University are within an hour's drive. Serving Livonia and Westland are two fine colleges: Schoolcraft College and Madonna University.

Our communities offer excellent parks, affording residents ample and varied recreational opportunities during all seasons. City services are outstanding, including a recently completed main library in Westland, three municipal golf courses, indoor ice rinks, and elaborate community centers serving citizens of all ages. City-owned housing units offer splendid retirement living for area senior citizens.

Support of the arts is a priority in both communities, with arts commissions, cultural leagues, a city-owned and operated historical village, a local symphony orchestra, Friends of the Library, and numerous arts and cultural festivals.
