Hello! My name is Shellie Moore and I am the very fortunate principal of Webster Elementary School. I am beginning my third year at Webster but have over fifteen years as a school administrator. I began my career teaching emotionally impaired children and concentrated on reading and literacy. I was principal at Beacon Day Treatment Program and at Merriman Elementary School before coming to LPS. have a Bachelor's and Master's degree from EMU and my Educational Specialist degree from WSU. I also have special education supervisor certification. My varied experience led me to Webster and I feel like I have landed the very best job possible! Housed within Webster are two very special programs. Side by side you'll find classrooms for Livonia’s Alternative Classrooms for the Academically Talented Program (ACAT) and the Northwest Wayne County Program for students who have cognitive impairments. You might be thinking, “What a combination of students -- students who receive an alternative curriculum because they are very gifted in academics sharing the same school with students who need a specialized curriculum because they struggle to keep up with the traditional school program.” When the two programs come together, they create a school like no other. We believe it is the most wonderful combination of students.
Webster is located within a quiet residential neighborhood, south of 8 Mile Road, between Farmington and Merriman Roads. We are excited about the landscaping work our parents and staff have done around the building. It looks really great! Webster is a nurturing, caring environment. The Webster school community works collaboratively and earnestly to promote strong relationships within the classrooms and across the programs. Our students can participate in many extra-curricular activities at Webster—lunchtime Enrichment Programs, Science Fair, Community Based Instruction (CBI) activities within the community, Social Studies Olympiad, and Math Club.
