A New Semester Begins
Let's Begin Again
Welcome to the new semester in Mr. Holman's class at Franklin High School. I look forward to all of the teaching and learning that this semester portends to bring. My expectation of my students is that they come to my class prepared. I enjoy teaching, but not the wasted time that is given to rumor, gossip, drama associated with many students that come to class unprepared. So, if I am short in that fashion when a student arrives to my class tardy, it is because I have higher expectations of them as students and want them to acquire the educational behaviors that, in my experience, will lead them to be successful later on in their life.
During the course of the semester, we will be covering a variety of themes, writing of various types, observing visuals of a varied nature and listening to an eclectic sampling of musical artists and performers. It is never my intention to offend anyone, but rather to introduce new perspectives to students to consider regarding their position and perspective on life and education. The attempt is to have them solidify their position (which ever that position may be) with the knowledge and understanding that will make them more secure in who they are as a graduate and participate in the educational experience. Also, to be secure in their defense of their position.
I look forward to students in my class respecting each other as individuals, participating with eagerness and interest, and bringing their perspective and understanding of the world at this point in their teenage life. By doing so, hopefully they will give others insights into various subjects, topics and positions that are at large in the world today.
Well, so the semester commences. Information about homework, tests, quizzes, surveys and various pertinent information that is needed for the class. Students, parents, family, friends, guardians, check this sight periodically for all of the information that you will need to be successful in my class.
