Mrs. Coon

Welcome Back!

Dear Parents,

My name is Sherrie Coon, and I will be your child’s teacher for this school year.  First, let me say that I am excited to have the opportunity to teach your child.  I am looking forward to a year of building knowledge in a structured, as well as fun, atmosphere.

I would like to tell you a little about my background.  I attended the University of Iowa on a full-scholarship for swimming for two years and then finished my schooling at Eastern Michigan, where I received my teaching certification.  I completed my master’s degree from Wayne State University in 1998.  I have been a teacher in Livonia since 1995. My husband, Ted and I have been married for twenty-four years.  We have three wonderful children who have attended Livonia Public Schools, but two are in college now and our youngest is attending catholic Central High School. In my free time, I enjoy swimming, biking, and spending time as a family traveling and playing sports.

Second grade is a fun place to be.  We learn so many exciting things!  I know your child will really enjoy learning this year.  Measuring Matters, Changing earth and the life of a Plant are a few of the integrated units we will explore in Science.  Your child will be a superb handwriting by the end of the year and, of course, we will continue practicing becoming better readers, writers, and mathematicians.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.  I look forward to working with you this year as we strive to make this school year a very positive and successful experience for your child.  I will be posting information on the Cleveland website once I am added, so please check this site often.  If you should have any questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me.

We are going to have a FABULOUS school year!
