Hello, I am Deborah Elliston and I am very happy to be teaching 5th grade at Riley Upper Elementary.  I earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Western Michigan University and a master's degree from Eastern Michigan University.  I have taught in Livonia since 1995 most of which has been in fifth grade at Coolidge and Riley.    

I currently live in South Lyon with my husband and two sons.  My sons, Kyle and Justin, are pursuing a degree in plastic engineering at Ferris State University.  Kyle is a senior and Justin a junior at FSU.  Go Bulldogs!!!  We love the outdoors and enjoy hiking, mountain biking, fishing, snowboarding/skiing, and riding ATV's. Our biggest family accomplishment has been competing in the Warrior Dash from 2012-2015.  In the end, we made it through twelve obstacles while being completely covered in mud.  In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking, making cards, downhill skiing, reading, shopping, and traveling.

I am also a former Livonia Public School student so I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful district that is dedicated to making children life long learners.  I am looking forward to making this a successful and positive year for you and your child.  To ensure this success, we must keep the lines of communication open.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school or send an e-mail.  I feel that continuous dialogue between parent and teacher is vital to success throughout the year.  My goal is to educate, challenge, and inspire every student to achieve personal success.  I look forward to meeting you in the future.
