Updates from Mr. Green

  • Roosevelt Elementary School Week of November 10 2019

Posted by WILLIAM GREEN on 11/10/2019

    Good afternoon Roosevelt Families,

For this week's e-blast I am asking parents to go on a Roosevelt Elementary scavenger hunt to seek out answers for the following items.  Maybe this would be a fun activity to do with your child.  HINT:  You should be able to find these answers within this email, our website, or by looking at previous week's eblasts from my office.  Have fun!

THINGS TO DO WITH THIS EBLAST

    • Read the information.
    • Complete the Website/E-BLAST Scavenger Hunt.
    • Open and review the various attachments.

    WEBSITE/E-BLAST SCAVENGER HUNT

    2. I want to order a Wreath and/or Poinsettia this week.  Find a copy of the order form.
    3. When does the Livonia Goodfellows Food Drive conclude?
    4. When is PTA Bounce it Up?
    5. MOD PIZZA NIGHT " The Battle of the Schools" is????
    6. Locate a digital copy of our lunch menu and our elementary handbook!
    7. BONUS:  Does your child have an i-READY license?  If so have them log in today and show you their dashboard.  Do they have 45 minutes completed for the week?  If not, they need to spend some time today doing a few lessons.

I hope you enjoyed researching the above-mentioned items!

    COLD WEATHER

The leaves are almost all down from the trees. COLD WEATHER IS HERE!  As a reminder, if the temperature with the wind chill is above 15 degrees Fahrenheit then boys and girls lineup and play outside for recess.  Requests to stay inside for recess should be accompanied by a doctor's note.

    LUNCH PROGRAM INFORMATION

MyPaymentsPlus is the school district's online lunch portal.  Mrs. Green and I relied on MyPaymentsPlus when the Green children were in school and found it informative not only in regards to our children's lunch choices but also the ease in which we could add money to their accounts and monitor their balances.

In addition, this LPS Meal Charging Procedure link contains the procedures at all levels for meal charging.  If you have any additional Food Service questions please visit their webpage.

  • Roosevelt Elementary School Week of November 3, 2019

Posted by WILLIAM GREEN on 11/3/2019

    Good morning Roosevelt families,

Can you believe November is here already?

Approximately once a month all k-4 classes meet in the gym to review and discuss universal character traits.  September's focus was RESPECT, while we focused on RESPONSIBILITY in October.  For November we let the students vote.  The character element of GRIT won out, so GRIT IS IT for November.  Throughout the year teachers integrate the various character traits within their lessons and activities throughout the day.  This aligns with one of our school beliefs, which is the Roosevelt staff will provide a safe, nurturing and respectful environment where all students can grow to become reflective and inquisitive learners.  Feel free to visit our district website to learn more about our Community With Character.

As a reminder, set your clocks back one hour today as Daylight Savings Time ends.   This used to be more exciting when you had to remember to set them back yourself.  Now a lot of our digital devices automatically set the clocks back for us. Visit this Daylight Saving Time article to create some Sunday conversation on this topic.

    AMERICAS FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS

Brennan H., along with the Xaidan and Xavier G., Colin G., Leo W., and Jax C. will have a video on America's Funniest Video's that will air this Sunday(tonight)!  It's a video from Livonia Parks and Recreation Coach Pitch - the boys, along with other Roosevelt students, were on the Pirates team.  Brennan is the batter and hits a ball right at his dad, but makes it into a bucket....hole in one!  Congratulations!
