  • THE CAPA EXPERIENCE

The CAPA program builds the skills, passion, creativity and supportive artistic community performers need to continue their formal education in the creative arts. CAPA provides a safe, imaginative and caring place for these young people to land and learn. We are proud of each one of our artists and know that wherever they go and whatever they do, they will always be a part of the CAPA family. The CAPA program is offered to students grades 9-12 in the Livonia School District. CAPA students are enrolled in two CAPA classes per semester and can choose to pursue acting, vocal or dance. Many CAPA students double strand and study two subjects. Transportation is provided within the district for CAPA students.

  • The Acting strand of CAPA provides students with vast experiences in acting, writing original pieces, directing, technical theatre, theatre makeup, puppetry, slam poetry, the reading of scripts and teamwork on and offstage. Our actor’s original work is featured in The Annual Acting Showcase, which highlights all grade levels and their writing/acting talents. Seniors write, direct and act in the annual Big Show performed for the entirety of CAPA each year. Actors graduate from the Acting program as artists who know how to change the world for the better through theatre.CAPA acting students

The pre-professional training promotes strong musicianship while growing the students love for music and performing. Our students have received first division ratings at district and state vocal competitions, finalists in the Verdi Opera Competition and participated in great programs such as the Michigan Opera Theatre Summer Program, Madonna University Musical Theatre Program, Rackham Choir, and many more prestigious student music programs.
