Mini Unit 1: Argument Writing
Posted by KRISTIN SMITH on 9/10/2019This week in Reality Literature, we've been working on the foundations of argument writing. Students took notes on how to write strong claims, and then read three articles on the topic "Reality Tv" to practice identifying different claims and evidence.
Here are the notes: Writing Claims Mini Lesson
Here are the three articles we read:
- Friday, 9/6: Article 1: Reality TV Makes Us Introspective
- Monday, 9/9: Article 2: Reality TV Is What We Make Of It
- Tuesday, 9/10: Article 3: Reality TV Is Here To Stay
After reading the three articles, students put them all together on this graphic organizer and added in their own opinion: Argument Table Graphic Organizer
Finally, tomorrow (Wednesday, 9/11), students will be writing a 2 to 3 paragraph informal argument. That assignment is posted on Google Classroom, along with an MLA formatting template that students can type directly to. It should be turned in on Google Classroom.
