  • Students will be doing mass amounts of reading and writing during ELA.  Writing will occur in reflection to their self selected chapter books as well as  nonfiction.  Writing will be based on life experience to start the year before moving into a persuasive, then nonfiction writing unit.  Grammar, usage, mechanics, and spelling is taught along the way, and students are expected to use learned vocabulary across all subject areas when applicable. Additionally, some friendly competition with vocabulary use will be happening daily as students will learn several words each week, and record most in their digital vocabulary notebook.
