    Mrs. Julie Burger

    Mrs. Burger was hired in Livonia in the winter of 2004.  She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in General Education k-6, Special Education for the Visually Impaired birth-26 years of age. She earned her Masters in Educational Technology through Madonna University in 2008.  She has presented at the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children (MCEC) conference and Michigan AER. In 2017 she received an award as one of the final nominees for teacher of the year by the Braille Institute.

    Ms. Ericka Crawford

    Ms. Crawford is a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and has been employed with Livonia Public Schools since 2015.  Prior to working in Livonia, Ms. Crawford worked for Eastern Wayne County as the Lead VI Teacher Consultant.  Ms. Crawford has years of experience of working with visually impaired students as well as, working with students that have additional impairments  Ms. Crawford has taught in numerous educational settings from private, charter, and public schools in Michigan and Florida.  Ms. Crawford serves as Western Wayne County Low Vision Coordinator for the state Youth Low Vision Program in conjunction with the schools in Western Wayne County.  Ms. Crawford completed her educational training at Eastern Michigan University with certification in teaching students with Visual Impairments birth-age 26 as well as, Secondary 6-12 English.

    Mrs. Kirsten Davies

    Mrs. Davies has been working for Livonia Public Schools since the fall of 2017 and has been working as an O&M in a school system since 2015 at St. Clair County RESA. Prior to that, Kirsten got her start at Hines V.A. Hospital working with blind and low vision veterans. She graduated with her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Western Michigan University and is a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist.

    Mr. Jeff Doran

    Mr. Doran joined the VI staff in September 2019. Prior to this, he worked as a secondary level resource room teacher and co-teacher of language arts with Clarkston Community Schools for twelve years and also worked in the field of marketing for two years right out of college. Mr. Doran earned his Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities from Madonna University in 2007

    Mr. Patrick Draheim

    Mr. Draheim has been working as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) for Livonia Public Schools since Fall 2017.  Prior to working for LPS, Mr. Draheim worked as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) and a Computer Assistive Technology Instructional Specialist (CATIS) at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center from 2013-2017. Mr. Draheim received both his Bachelor or Arts and Master of Arts in Orientation and Mobility from Western Michigan University.

    Mrs. Michelle Ellis

    Mrs. Ellis has been working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for Livonia Public Schools since Fall 2017.  Prior to working as a TVI, Mrs. Ellis worked for LPS as a general education substitute teacher, as well as several years as a special education paraprofessional.  Mrs. Ellis received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University, and a Masters in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments from Western Michigan University.

    Mrs. Jessica Kusku

     

    Ms. Kusku has been working at Livonia Public Schools as a TCVI since 2013 and has been working in education since 2008. She graduated from Western Michigan University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Education and in 2013 with a Master’s of Arts in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments. Ms. Kusku is passionate about braille literacy skills, early intervention, and using technology to promote independence.

    Mrs. Lori Marsh

    Mrs. Marsh was hired by Livonia Public Schools in the winter of 2007 as a special education paraeducator. She has experience working with students of many different abilities in the special education center classroom setting as well as in the general education classroom setting.  In 2010 she began working for the LPS Visually Impaired department and received her Educational Endorsement in Teaching Students with Visual Impairments from Western Michigan University shortly thereafter. Mrs. Marsh has an interest in working with students who have Cortical Visual Impairments (CVI) and has attended training sessions with Dr. Christine Roman-Lantzy, who is the author of many educational materials on the topic.

    Mrs. Caitlin Oliver

    Mrs. Oliver has been working at Livonia Public Schools as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired since 2018. In 2014 she started her education career working with children with autism as an ABA therapist. In 2017 she taught 2nd grade in a private school for one year. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a degree in elementary education in 2014.
