The Coolidge Habitat is a project that began at Coolidge almost 10 years ago. With the help of many staff members, parents, P.T.A., students and scouts, an area of dirt and neglected flower beds were transformed into a Michigan native plant garden with raised beds for planting. Throughout the school year groups of students are invited to explore the area and study plants and nature, many classes enjoy the space for activities and reading. In June, we host an annual "Gardenfest" celebration in our habitat. Classes are invited to plant flowers and veggies, all students create artwork from recycled materials and participate in eco-activities and games throughout the day. We are always looking for ways to improve and maintain our habitat! If you are interested in donating materials or volunteering to weed and water, please contact Kellie Stark at kstark2@livoniapublicschools.org.
