Welcome!

I am super excited to be your child's teacher this year!  I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year to best meet the needs of your child.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions. I believe great things can happen when we are all teaming together!

Teacher Background:

I think it is important for you to know a little bit about the person your child will be spending a lot of time with this school year. I have spent the majority of my life living, learning, and teaching in the Livonia area. I attended Livonia Public Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. I went on to receive my bachelor's and master's degrees from Madonna University. In addition, I was a guest teacher for Livonia Public Schools for one year before I accepted a full time teaching position over 20 years ago. I am proud to be a Buchanan staff member and I absolutely love teaching second graders! I am blessed with wonderful teaching partners and to be surround by so many outstanding educators who are passionate about teaching. Buchanan Elementary School is a great place to be!

Communication: 

I will use a couple different means to communicate with parents throughout the year. Below is an outline those different ways.

ClassTag

Throughout the year I will be communicating with the families in my classroom using a system called ClassTag. I am able to send out newsletters, announcements, pictures, direct individual parent communication, and sign-ups for class parties all in one spot. I will be sending home a paper at the beginning of the year that will explain how you can sign-up to be connected to my classroom. I ask that you register right away so that you can begin to get information from me as soon as possible. I strongly suggest that you connect it to both your cell phone and e-mail. When I make announcements you can automatically receive text messages so you don't miss out on any important information. I will do my best not to over post but to give you the information that you need. Each Friday, I send out an update and important information for the week ahead. I will also be sending out important dates through this communication. Important district dates will be located under the calendar tab. 

Communication Folders:

Students will receive a sturdy folder at the beginning of the year. This will be used to send home any important or completed papers throughout the year.

Mission for Our Classroom:

My mission is to provide students with a quality education that meets their individual needs to help foster their academic growth. Together we will work hard, encourage others, have fun, and realize that mistakes help us grow.  Students will be encouraged to do their best, be respectful, accept responsibility for their choices, and celebrate the accomplishments of their peers.
