Secondary Programs

Director of Secondary Programs and District Services, Kevin Etue

Kevin Etue’s journey with Livonia Public Schools began in 2003, when he stepped into the classroom as a substitute teacher in our secondary schools. He soon transitioned to teaching Management and Business Administration at the Livonia Career Technical Center, where he combined his passion for education with real-world business insight. During this time, Mr. Etue also enjoyed coaching football and girls basketball at Churchill High School, building strong connections with students both on and off the field.

In 2011, Mr. Etue took on a leadership role at Churchill High School, serving as assistant principal for six years before becoming principal in 2017—a position he held for five years. His dedication to student success and school culture made a lasting impact on the Churchill community.

In July 2022, Mr. Etue joined the Central Office cabinet team as Director of Secondary Programs and District Services, where he now supports secondary schools across the district, collaborates with educational leaders, and helps shape programs that enrich student learning and engagement.

Mr. Etue holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management with a minor in Economics from Western Michigan University (1999). He earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Winthrop University in South Carolina (2003), followed by a Master’s in Educational Administration from Wayne State University (2011).

Before returning to Michigan, Mr. Etue lived in Portland, Oregon and Charlotte, North Carolina, gaining valuable experience in the business sector and working in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. Upon his return, he served as a substitute teacher and coach in Novi Community Schools before finding his home in Livonia.

Today, Mr. Etue continues to enjoy being a part of the Livonia Public Schools family. He enjoys visiting schools, collaborating with colleagues, and celebrating the many ways students grow through academics, athletics, the arts, and extracurricular activities.

Role of the Director

The Director of Secondary Programs oversees the District's middle schools and high schools, including the Career Technical Center and Adult Education. The Secondary Director serves on the District's leadership team, known as Cabinet, and reports directly to the Superintendent.

On a daily basis, the Director works hand-in-hand with the Directors of Elementary Programs, Academic Services, Student Services, Operations, Business Services and Human Resources. In addition, the Secondary Director serves as the supervisor of the athletic directors, assistant principals, and the head principal at each of the secondary schools. For a list of the secondary schools, see the link on the left.

Parents of students are welcome to call email the Director, but most questions regarding specific schools or school programs are best directed to the administrators at that school. Questions and concerns about athletic programs are best directed to the school's athletic director.

The Director also serves as a secondary school ombudsman, but protocol and process dictate that problems and complaints be heard first at the school level.
