Youth Assistance Programs
Both Livonia and Westland have "Youth Assistance Programs" which were developed as an alternative to the juvenile court system in order to prevent early involvement in the legal system for youth who are identified as at-risk or delinquent.
Behaviors of concern may include: Curfew problems, poor grades, attendance issues, peer issues, home truancy, suspensions, legal involvement, incorrigible, substance use involvement.
Services offered may include: Counseling, mentoring, classes, etc. Services are free and confidential.
Filing Incorrigibility
Incorribiiglity is defined as "the juvenile is repeatedly disobedient to the reasonable and lawful commands of his or her parents, guardian, or custodian, and the court finds on the record by clear and convincing evidence that court-accessed services are necessary."
If you feel your student would benefit from this level of intervention, please reach out to your counselor or SAP.
