    The Livonia Public Schools School Board is committed to working together for the best interests of the students and families of Livonia Public Schools.

    The LPS School Board has achieved Honor Board Status, through the Michigan Association of School Boards. To be designated as an Honor Board, each board member must have achieved at least one level of certification by the MASB. 


    A very limited number of boards in the State of Michigan receive this recognition!

    Mark Johnson was elected to the Board in June of 2010, and re-elected 2014 and 2018. He is a graduate of Livonia Public Schools, and attended the University of Toledo, where he obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance degree. Mark is the parent of one LPS graduate and one current LPS student. He has been a trial lawyer for more than 25 years. Mark is certified by the Michigan Association of School Boards and has received the MASB Award of Distinction.

    Colleen Burton was elected to the Board in November of 2009 and re-elected in 2014 and 2018. She is a graduate of Livonia Bentley High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Harding University. Colleen is the parent of three LPS graduates. She currently works as a sales assistant. She has served as a member of the District School Improvement Team,  PTA President, Treasurer, and Membership Chairperson, and Stevenson Booster Club School Beautification Chairperson. Colleen is MASB Certified and has achieved the MASB Master Board Member Award.

    Tammy Bonifield was elected to the Board in November 2012 and re-elected in 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Michigan Technological University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Tammy works as an accountant for a Northville firm. Tammy is the treasurer of the Livonia AM Rotary and holds several leadership positions with her sons' Boy Scout troop. She has two children -- one who attends LPS and one who graduated from LPS. Tammy has held numerous PTA board positions, and has served on the Elementary Report Card Task Force, District School Improvement Team, and the Taylor-Hoover Transition Team. Tammy is MASB Certified and has received the MASB Master Board Member Award.

    Karen Bradford was elected to the Board in November 2016. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, and a Master of Arts degree in Reading from Eastern Michigan University. She is a part-time substitute teacher and also worked as an ACAT tester for Webster Elementary. As the parent of two LPS graduates and two current LPS students, Karen is an active member of the PTA. She has served as past president of Hoover and Holmes, and is the volunteer coordinator for the Stevenson Senior All Night Party. She is also an active member of St. Genevieve-St. Maurice Church. Karen is certified by the Michigan Association of School Boards and has received the Award of Merit.

    Dan Centers was appointed to the Board in May 2014, elected for the remaining two-year term in 2014, and re-elected in 2016 for a four-year term. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Madonna University and graduated with honors and a teaching certificate in 2007. Dan is a former elementary school teacher, and is currently the Chief of Staff for Michigan's 7th Senate District. He volunteers with the Livonia Jaycees and the West Oaks Civitan group (a local branch of Civitan International). Dan is MASB Certified and has received the MASB Award of Merit.

    Crystal Frank was elected to the Board in November 2016. Crystal grew up in Rittman, Ohio, and graduated from Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Communication. She moved to Michigan to work for Ford Motor Company in its Sales and Marketing Division. Crystal and her husband, Lucas, have four children; three attend LPS full time and one preschooler participates in the district's "Talk It Up" program. Crystal has been very involved in the district since the time her children entered Livonia Public Schools. She has been the PTA Vice President at Cass Elementary and PTA President at Webster Elementary. Crystal is certified by the Michigan Association of School Boards.

    Liz Jarvis was elected to the Board in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. She holds an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Graphic Design, from Michigan State University. Liz is a stay-at-home mom, and also works as a calligrapher by commission. She is the parent of three LPS graduates. She serves on the District School Improvement team, the LPS Education Foundation Board of Directors, and the Livonia PTSA Council. She also assists on the Livonia FIRST Robotics Team and her son's Boy Scout troop. Liz is MASB Certified and has received the MASB Award of Merit.
