Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Marena Maier

I really enjoy teaching students math during class and tutoring students after school. In both situations, I witness them increase their confidence and knowledge and witness the wonderful “lightbulb” moments. I have a unique opportunity every day to watch students learn, grow, and thrive from ninth grade to graduation. I have been fortunate enough to teach for over 30 wonderful years. My degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership.

In addition to teaching, I have spent over 20 years volunteering as the National Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Advisor.  This year I will be overseeing five amazing student officers and 75 group members, before Freshman are added, who facilitate various awareness, community service, and fun activities. Students who embody a non-destructive life are encouraged to join at any point in the year.  Meetings and activities run all year long and are every other Friday after school in room B31.  New students can listen for announcements and stop in to see if they are interested before joining. Members attend when they can and earn volunteer hours, activity points toward an activity letter, and possible graduation chords.

This year all course information, material, assignments, and additional practice resources for students can be found in my google classroom under the Stream and Classwork tabs.  If you have not yet joined or have any questions that require an email, please include your student's name, hour, and any questions or concerns, in a brief and direct manner for a quick reply, to mmaier@livoniapublicschools.orgGrades should be viewed in Student connect or parent connect and not in google classroom, with the expectation that grades will be updated on a weekly basis.

I look forward to helping your student think, analyze, and learn this year.
