Welcome to our Class!  My name is Jackie Pillai.  I have been teaching in Livonia Public Schools for the past 20 year.  Most of my teaching experience has been in the area of special education with 1st grade students.  I have been teaching kindergarten for the past 6 years and LOVE it!!!  Teaching is not just my job; it's my hobby and my calling!  I can't imagine being so fulfilled in any other profession.  I am so excited for this year and cannot wait to spend my days with your children!

I am married and have 2 kiddos.  My oldest, Dylan, is 18 and just went to college at Grand Valley State University.  My daughter, Kailyn, is 13 and starting her 8th grade year at Holmes.  Enjoy your babies...time goes by way to fast!  In my spare time I enjoy running, reading and traveling.

I majored in special education and graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1999.  In 2004, I graduated with my Masters in Education from Marygrove College.  Every piece of my educational path has helped mold the person and teacher I am today.  I continue to learn from my wonderful colleagues and I am constantly trying to put into action new ideas into my teching and/or classroom.
