Ms. Nan Kaufman

This is my 26th year of teaching. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University, my Master's degree from Northern Michigan University, and my Education Specialist degree from Oakland University. I started my teaching career in 1995 in the Upper Peninsula for DeTour Area Schools. I taught Kindergarten for seven years at DeTour Elementary School and Drummond Island Elementary School. I began teaching for Livonia Public Schools in 2002. I taught 3rd and 4th Grade at Webster Elementary School for eight years. After 15 years in the classroom I decided to leave the clasroom and become the districts K-6 Math and Science Facilitator for five years. I returned to the classroom in 2015 and taught 4th Grade at Cass Elementary School. When Cass closed I began teaching 3rd Grade at Buchanan. I will be teaching 4th grad this year! This will be my 4th year at Buchanan.

Outside of the classroom, I love to spend time with my family. We live in St. Clair Shores. My daughter, Cierra, will be starting high school this year. As a family we enjoy traveling, kayaking, bike riding, camping, tubing, swimming, and spending time with our 10+ pets. We have 1 Yorkshire Terrier named Toby, 3 bunnies named Finnegan, Bentley, and Nico, 2 Bearded Dragons named Penelope and Apollo,  3 Hamsters named Rosie, Jaq, and Gus, 1 Axolotl named Eniema, 2 snails, and lots of fish.

I am looking forward to sharing my love of learning with all of my students.
