Welcome to Kindergarten
Dear Parents, Sept. 3, 2019
Hello and welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Kerry Budai and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I have been at Hayes for 23 years. 17 of them were in 1st grade, and one year I taught 2nd grade. I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten again. This is my 5th year in Kindergarten and I LOVE it! I am excited and honored to have the opportunity to work with you and your child. I believe teaching stems from teamwork. There are three components of this team- your child, yourself, and me. Together we can reach so many new heights and have so many wonderful experiences. I can’t wait!
Here is a little bit of information about me. I attended Michigan State University where I obtained a master and bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. GO STATE!! I live in Novi but have completed all my schooling in Livonia. I have been married for 19 years to Mr. Budai. He is a very busy guy. He is a Physical Therapist and Personal Trainer. I have a 17-year-old son named Austin. He is a senior this year. It will be a very emotional year for me. I also have a 14-year-old daughter named Riley. She will be a freshman. One starting and one ending. They are the joy of our lives. I certainly can relate to the overwhelming love you have for your child. I’m excited to watch your child grow and share in this wonderful experience of first grade. Oh, I also have a Hananese puppy named Nyssa, two crazy cats- Izzy and Loki, and a ball python named Thor (He is super cool).
As a classroom teacher, I know kindergarten is one of the most important grades. I believe my goals are similar to yours for your child’s success. Our classroom is set up to promote academic growth, play, safety, love, comfort, and positive outcomes. I feel every child is a learner and grows at his or her individual pace. I will continue to create a classroom which shows respect for all learners and is a place where your child will be safe and loved. Again, I hope we can work together as a team and I am certain this will be a successful year.
I look forward to meeting you at our Curriculum/Open House on Sept. 12.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments at any time by e-mail, note or in person (unfortunately, the phones don’t ring in our room after school starts). Thank you and I look forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Kerry A. Budai
