Hello!  Welcome back to school!  My name is Casey Loiselle, and I am so happy to be your child’s teacher this year!  I have taught special education in Livonia for the past five years.  This is my second year at Frost Middle School, and I absolutely LOVE being a part of the Frost family!  I have a wonderful classroom paraprofessional, Mrs. Amy Tartaglia.  This is our 6th year together, and I am so happy to be with her again!  We are also excited to welcome Ms. Cindy Wertz to our classroom, and are looking forward to an amazing school year!  This fall I am thrilled to be mentoring Mr. Joe Taiariol from Central Michigan University during his student teaching at Frost.  He has subbed and volunteered in our program, and knows many of the students already.  We are lucky to have him with us!

I am a big believer in working together as a team in the best interest of your child.  Since you know your child best, I look forward to your input at any time.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me by note, phone/voicemail or by email.  A weekly communication sheet will go home each day in your child’s folder.  Please review and add any comments or questions.  Please leave the sheet in the folder throughout the week, and I will collect them on Monday and add a new one for the following week.

At Frost, your child will follow a modified general education curriculum called the Common Core Essential Elements.  If at any time you have questions about the curriculum, please feel free to ask.  During the first few weeks of school, we will be spending a great deal of time on classroom rules and routines,  beginning of the year assessments, and getting to know each other.  At Frost the motto is, “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Empowered.”  All students that show they are being respectful, responsible, and empowered by doing their best learning will receive “Falcon Dollars” throughout the day.  Earning “Falcon Dollars” is a school-wide initiative where all students at Frost have the opportunity to earn dollars from all staff members in the building.  At the end of the week, students will count up their dollars and have the opportunity to purchase an item or special opportunity from the Frost School PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) store. If you have any new items that you would like to donate to the school store, that would be wonderful!

I am so excited to continue to team teach with Mrs. Kimberly Colaizzi.  We are also very excited to welcome Mrs. McKenna Dardini to our team.  Students in all classes will be switching between our three rooms throughout the day for various subjects.  I will be teaching writing, Mrs. Colaizzi will be teaching math, and Mrs. Dardini will be teaching reading.

This year we will have two elective classes, one each semester.  Students will have computer technology and physical education over the course of this school year.

At the end of the day, students will be offered a quick afternoon snack before going home.  If you would like to send in a snack each day with your child, that would be great, especially if your child follows a specific diet (sugar free, gluten free, dairy free, etc.) If you would like to donate snacks items to the classroom, we would certainly appreciate it (goldfish, crackers, pretzels, animal crackers, etc.)

Please let me know right away if your child has any food allergies or restrictions.  At this time, our classrooms are NUT FREE Zones.

Items to be considered for back to school: (please label all items)

-Backpack

-Lunchbox (if your child brings a lunch)

-Water Bottle (with spill proof lid)

-Bathroom items (if your child needs them)

-Extra set of clothes to keep at school

If your child has any medical concerns and requires a health care plan or health alert plan, please let me know immediately.  If your child takes medication at school, a medication authorization must be filled out. Please do not send medication on the bus or in a backpack, unless it has been approved and is part of a signed plan.

I look forward to working together toward an amazing school year!
