Major in Math Minor in Science Masters Degree

Mrs. Michelle Pritula

Dear parents/ guardians,

Welcome back!   I will be your child’s math teacher throughout the year.  I have been teaching at Emerson for the last nineteen years and I am thrilled to be here!  To give you a little of my background, I grew up in Livonia and graduated from Churchill High School.  After high school I graduated from Eastern Michigan with a major in Math and a minor in Science.  Since then I have continued my education at Marygrove College.  I received my Masters degree in the Art of Teaching and have been incorporating many of the ideas into the classroom.  I look forward to an exciting and educational year with the students.

I will now explain some of the procedures in math class.  Each student is expected to bring the following supplies to class each day: either a 3-ring binder or a folder with prongs, pencil, notebook paper and a packet.  You should expect to see your child working on math homework about three or four times each week.  Each day we will discuss the topic in class and the homework will reflect that topic.  The following day we will go over the assignment from the night before.  This will allow each child the opportunity to ask questions if there was any confusion.  The students will be given a quiz several times throughout each section that is covered.  This gives me an opportunity to see the progress of each student before test time.  Please encourage your son/daughter to ask questions during class if he/she does not understand.

I look forward to working with both you and your child during the year.  Also if there are questions throughout the year, please feel free to email me at mpritula@livoniapublicschools.org

Email seems to work very well because it allows me to get back to you right away.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Michelle Pritula
