The Emerson Library
Welcome to the Emerson Library! Your friendly Emerson Librarian has been Ms. McGuire since 2010. She will be happy to help you find a book and share her love of reading with you!
Read below for resources to keep reading this summer! There are even more resources such as the International Children's Digital Library and free books from audible under the link to E-Book Reading Resources on the left.
Keep Reading this Summer!
SYNC is a free summer audiobook proram for teenagers. This is a yearly program that has been in place for a number of years. There will be two free audiobooks every week through August 4th (new books post on Thursdays). Books have to be downloaded the wee they are available, but then they are yours to keep. You will need to register with an email address and get the Sora app (or use Sora online). Find out more information at https://www.audiobooksync.com/.
Check out the JLG Digital Stream this summer (available through August 31st)! There are around 50 books (both fiction and nonfiction, ebook and audiobooks) here. But be careful! The books "expire" and new ones show up. There will be a notice if the book is near expiration date and when books do expire, new books will show up. So watch out for new books! You can use this online or get the app. If you use the app, the username and password are MImid (for Michigan middle school).
A new resource - available all year round!
As well as being able to use Sora to get the free audiobooks from SYNC, there are also a selection of books made available for the LPS school district by the Livonia Public Library. No library card is needed. Students select our school district and log in with their school Google account!
When using this app and logging on with your school Google account, you will only see books selected based on school level. You can also use this app (instead of Libby) to access all of the public library's Download Destination ebooks/audiobooks. You can access Sora online or through an app on a mobile device.
We have students who live in Westland as well as Livonia. See below for ebook resources from both libraries.
