    SAFE START SEPTEMBER TERMS

    Block Schedule
For the Safe Start September of remote learning, students will have a block of both synchronous and asynchronous instruction for three 100 minute periods a day.  The middle school day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:45 p.m. during the remote learning period.

    Asynchronous
Asynchronous learning entails self-guided lessons and practice to be completed by the student, with adult assistance where applicable.  Students should plan to do asynchronous learning for approximately three hours per day which can occur within the times outlined above and/or outside of the regular school day.  Students can focus on the first 50 minutes of each block as their time to work on asynchronous work.  Teachers will set up times to support students with their asynchronous learning.  Completion of assignments and lessons will be mandatory.

    Synchronous
Synchronous learning is live online instruction, taking place via Google Meet or other remote learning platforms.  Students will have three 50-minute synchronous learning live online instruction periods per day.  Just as with in person instruction, attendance is mandatory and will be taken by the teacher.

    Remote Learning Hour (asynchronous)
In addition to a student's daily classes and assignments, each teacher will assign their students a weekly activity.  Every Monday, beginning Sept. 14, students will receive an activity from each of their teachers that will be due the following Monday.  Therefore, students will have six activities (one per class) in which they will have one week to complete and submit to their teachers.  To avoid long Sunday evenings, it is recommended that students spend up to one hour per day outside of the regular school day to complete these remote learning hour activities.
