7th Grade Course Request Info
Under ordinary circumstances, your school would have been visited by middle school counselors to help you schedule your elective classes for 7th grade. Unfortunately, the schools were closed before we were able to complete this process in person, and we regret the missed opportunity we had to connect with you face-to-face and help you get set for 7th grade classes. We are still here for you, though, and the time has come for us to help you select your 7th grade elective classes remotely!
Each of you have been assigned a middle school by LPS based on your attendance area. You will find a link specific to each middle school at the bottom of this letter. It is very important for the accuracy of our process that you click the correct link for the school you are assigned to attend so that the right staff receives your course requests and can schedule you properly. When you click the link for your school, you will be directed to a document that walks you through your course options. Please note that elective course descriptions are linked at the top of the document, so if you have questions about each class we encourage you to click that link and preview the classes to help you make your best selections. (If you have already been selected into MACAT at Frost and have turned in a paper copy of a course request for that program, you need not worry about the links below.)
Please plan to complete this course request by Friday, April 24, 2020.
We encourage you to take your time and make informed decisions. Our schedulers make every effort to get students into the classes they select but it is important to choose alternate class options with which you are comfortable in the event that space restrictions prevent some students from receiving first choices. The better job you do now making good decisions for your interests, the happier you will be with your schedule in the fall!
We look forward to August when we finally get to greet you as new 7th graders. There will be an opportunity for schedule pick up, building tours, and ample time to get acclimated to your new school building before the school year begins, so no worries! Thank you for taking the time to carefully complete your course request forms, and please be safe and stay healthy
REMINDER: You are selecting only your elective courses at this time. Core classes (language arts, mathematics, science and social studies) will be automatically loaded.

8th Grade Course Request Info
Students are asked to select electives that they have not yet taken (with the exception of Band/Choir). We want to provide students with a variety of experiences during middle school. For example, if you had Art & Design this year, please do not select this course again for next year. You may, however, choose Visual Art (which is a separate course). As an 8th grader, students have the option of beginning the World Language requirement. French, German and Spanish are offered as a full year class. If students successfully pass the World Language course, they can earn credit toward fulfilling the high school requirement. Students should consider if they are ready for a high school paced course before committing to a World Language class as the workload is comparable to that of a core course (math, language arts, science, social studies). One semester of Physical Education is required at the 8th grade level. If a student selects two full year courses (i.e. Band/Choir and World Language) this requirement is waived as it will not fit in the student's schedule. Our Holmes Yearbook class is offered as an application based course at the 8th grade. Please be sure to select an alternative in the event the class is full. A link to the application is provided.Lastly, please select courses based on YOUR interests. The chances of you being in the same hour as a friend are slim so do not choose classes based on your friends. Since our school will be staffed based on the selections you make now, please take the time to read the descriptions to make an informed decision. We are unable to make changes to schedules in September.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your counselor.Cori Pesci (A-Ke)
