Welcome to our back-to-school page for the 2022-2023 school year!
Below you will find several links and important information that you will find helpful for a successful start of the school year.
Welcome Back Packet
Our annual Welcome Back Packet will be completed through ParentConnect. Please see the Back to School Updates tab, and that will allow you to directly edit crucial information, including emergency contact information, medical authorizations, and so much more. It is recommended that families complete this process from a desktop/laptop computer. If you do not have access to one, laptops are available in the Emerson office. Step-by-step directions for updating this information can be viewed here.
Sign-up forms for fall sports will be sent out later in August. For more information about athletics, please visit this page. Mr. Colling, our athletic director, can also be reached by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. A current sports physical is required for all student athletes (after April 15, 2023).
Free/Reduced School Meals
We do ask that families complete the Free and Reduced-Priced Meal Application if your family has received free and/or reduced-price meals in the past, or if you believe your family would qualify. This application is critical in determining the amount of funding that our district receives from a variety of State and Federal supplemental programs.
Picture Day is Friday, September 8, through students' Social Studies classes. Please read this flyer for more information.
Parents are our partners at Emerson! Please consider joining the PTSA here. Our PTSA is one of the best ways to get involved as a parent/guardian throughout the school year!
Chaperone and Volunteer Background Check
It is necessary for all parents/guardians who will be chaperoning field trips or volunteering in classrooms to provide information for a criminal conviction/background check. This information will be sent to the Board of Education office and checked through the ICHAT (Internet Criminal History Access Tool) data base. It is only the Office of the Administrator of Public Safety that is authorized to access the ICHAT database on behalf of the school district. Your child's school will be able to access a list of volunteers that are eligible to act as chaperones and volunteers for that school. Except where disclosure is required by law, the list of approved chaperones and volunteers will be shared only with staff on a "need to know" basis and will be kept only for the current school year. Please complete the form here.
All students in K-12 eligible for transportation were required to request transportation for the 2022-2023 school year. Families who did not request transportation will not have a route assigned for their student. Bus route information will be posted in ParentConnect on or after September 1, 2022. If you are new to the district or are not certain whether your student qualifies for transportation, please email email@example.com. In the email, please include your student's first and last name, address, grade, school, and parent/guardian contact information.
Student Email and Computer Log-In Update
During the summer, all student email addresses and computer log-ins were reconfigured. Students will now log in with their same username + their graduation year. This change omits the "student" portion from their email address.
