From Principal Witherspoon

  • principal with kids Dear Cleveland Elementary Community,

It is with great honor and excitement that I introduce myself, Rob Witherspoon, as Principal of Cleveland Elementary School.  I have an energy and passion for education and commitment to excellence that inspires our staff and students to rise up to any challenge that is set before them.  I am grateful for the partnerships with the entire Cleveland community in creating a team that will ensure the success of every child, every day!

I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University in 1998 and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Wayne State University in 2008.  My teaching career began as a seventh grade teacher in the Lincoln Consolidated School District in 1998.  I accepted a teaching position with Livonia Public Schools in 2000, where I taught both fifth and sixth grades, at Hull Elementary and Johnson Upper Elementary Schools.  I have also been involved at Stevenson High School as the varsity softball coach and junior varsity football coach (Churchill High School).  I began this journey in administration as the Assistant Principal of Johnson Upper Elementary School in 2012 prior to accepting this position.  I have learned an incredible amount from each position that I have held and feel as though they have prepared me for this amazing opportunity!

This school year will be filled with exciting learning opportunities that will meet the individual needs of each student.  The staff at Cleveland is very passionate about learning and will greet students daily with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.   We are dedicated to providing a safe learning environment in which the individual needs of the students are met through collaboration and innovation.  I am very fortunate to have joined the Cleveland staff as we will strive to instill our passion for high-quality learning into each student!

It is an honor to be a part of the Cleveland community and I am looking forward to doing my part in making this school year the best possible experience for all stakeholders!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions and/or concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Rob Witherspoon
