Welcome to Livonia Public Schools!

It is with great pleasure and tremendous pride that I welcome you to Livonia Public Schools on behalf of the Board of Education and the district’s administrative staff. Feel free to view our district’s Shared Vision and Collective Commitments which serve as the driving force for our work each day.

We are an organization that provides outstanding public education to more than 13,400 students in the cities of Livonia and Westland for grades preK-12 along with a variety of other educational opportunities, including post-secondary programs. We are extraordinarily proud of the vital work that each of our nearly 2,000 staff do each day.

Our families are essential partners in the education of the children entrusted to us. The Livonia PTSA continues to boast one of the largest memberships in the State of Michigan. We value parent involvement and welcome parents to be active partners!

While LPS is rooted in a tradition of excellence, I am proud to say that innovation and forward-thinking projects in both the academic realm and the physical building arena, continue to propel our district with forward momentum. We are extremely proud of our district's award-winning FIRST robotics programs at the middle and high school level; our STEM-based curriculum, Project Lead the Way; the many career-focused pathways at our Livonia Career Technical Center; and the many vast improvements to our schools and buildings, made possible through two successful voter-approved bond issues in 2013 and 2021.

Join us as we continue to flourish as the 9th largest public school district in Michigan and 1st in the area of hometown pride!

Our Mission…

To educate, challenge, and inspire every student to achieve personal success and become a confident contributor to society.

We know our community is counting on us to commit to this mission each day, and there is no more important work than this! Thank you for visiting our site and we hope to welcome you soon.

Sincere regards,

Andrea L. Oquist
