Welcome to Livonia Public Schools!
It is with great pride, heartfelt enthusiasm, and a warm welcome that I greet you on behalf of the Board of Education and the dedicated team of educators and staff at Livonia Public Schools. Whether you're a long-standing member of our school community or exploring LPS for the first time, we’re thrilled you’re here. LPS has been part of my life since I began as a kindergarten student, returned from college as a student-teacher in the district and now proudly as I begin my 36th year (11th as superintendent) as a staff member in this very special place that I treasure.
Livonia Public Schools is more than a school district — it’s a vibrant, caring community where children are supported, challenged, and celebrated. We believe every child deserves an outstanding education in a safe, nurturing environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Our Shared Vision and Collective Commitments serve as the foundation for all that we do, and we invite you to explore them as a reflection of our purpose and passion.
Serving more than 13,400 students in Livonia and Westland, LPS offers a broad range of educational opportunities from preschool through 12th grade, including dynamic post-secondary programs. We are deeply proud of our nearly 2,000 staff members who bring expertise, compassion, and dedication to their roles each and every day. Their work helps create a culture of high expectations, strong support, and meaningful connections — making our schools exceptional places for students to learn and grow.
We also recognize that families are our most important partners. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our parents, guardians, and community members. Our district’s PTSA remains one of the largest in the state of Michigan — a true testament to the spirit of collaboration and pride that defines LPS.
While rooted in a rich tradition of excellence, our district is always moving forward, including opening our newest school, the Livonia Early Childhood Center in 2024. We continue to expand innovative academic programming, including our nationally recognized FIRST robotics teams, Project Lead the Way STEM curriculum, and career-ready pathways through the Livonia Career Technical Center. Additionally, our school facilities have undergone transformational upgrades, thanks to two voter-approved bond initiatives, ensuring our students learn in safe, modern, and engaging environments.
Livonia Public Schools is proud to be the 9th largest public school district in Michigan — and first in hometown pride. Our schools are filled with enthusiastic learners, dedicated professionals, and a community that truly believes in the potential of every child.
