  • Athletic Event Policies for 2020-2021

Posted by Lori Hyman on 9/14/2020 8:00:00 AM

    Dear Stevenson Community:

We have had several requests inquiring as to whether or not tailgating will be allowed at any of our Athletic events this year.  This is to let you know that Livonia Stevenson will NOT be allowing tailgating or gatherings of any type at any of our Athletic events this year.  This policy applies to both indoor and outdoor events and also to events held off-campus (i.e. Cross Country, Golf, Hockey).  We appreciate your kind cooperation and understanding concerning this matter.  Thank you for your assistance with this policy.
I have also included two documents for your review: KLAA Spectator Policy and Livonia Stevenson Event Policies.
    Thank you, Lori Hyman-Athletic Administrator

  • Textbook & Material Pick Up / Yearbook Pickup

Posted by Craig Barker on 9/10/2020 9:00:00 AM

    Spartan Families,

Textbook/Materials pick up will take place on Tuesday, September 15 from 2:00-7:00 pm at Stevenson High School.

Students will use the front entrance and proceed to the South Cafeteria.

We are asking that only students attend.

Masks are required and we are practicing social distancing.

Students will need to know if they need textbooks. This will be communicated to the students through their teacher. If you do not need a textbook at this time, there is no need to come.

Stevenson students (both those in Livonia Virtual and Safe Start September) will report to Stevenson High School. There is no need to go to another high school to pick up materials.

LCTC courses do not require a textbook at this time.

*** If by chance your student still has textbooks from last spring, please bring those back ***

Yearbook pick up will also take place at this time.

  • 1st Day Recap and Remote Learning Expectations

Posted by Craig Barker on 9/8/2020 4:00:00 PM

    Spartan families,

Day one is in the books. Great job Spartans! Hopefully, everyone was able to connect with their teachers for hours 1-3. Tomorrow is a "B" day, meaning hours 4-6. If for some reason, your student was unable to connect with their class, they should reach out to that individual teacher.

Be sure to know your daily time schedule (Safe Start September or Livonia Virtual) for when to report to class for synchronous (live) learning. This is when attendance is taken.

Please note a few academic and behavior expectations as begin the school year:

    · Best Efforts! Best Intentions! Best Practices!

    · Create an appropriate at-home learning space.

    · Attendance is mandatory. Be present throughout synchronous learning.

    · CAMERA ON is strongly recommended.

    · Student code of conduct policies transfer to virtual/remote learning

This includes Social Media Use and behaviors during synchronous and asynchronous learning times

    · Make good choices during synchronous learning - respectful interactions

    · Best Efforts! Best Intentions! Best Practices!

Students should not be joining Google classrooms for another class unless invited by that teacher.

  • SHS Welcome Back Letter from the Principal

Posted by Pete Mazzoni on 9/3/2020 5:00:00 PM

    Dear Stevenson Families,

On behalf of the staff at Stevenson High School, I would like to welcome back our returning families while I introduce myself to our new families. Livonia Public Schools has provided me with many positive experiences as a former student, teacher, coach, administrator, parent, and community member. Our building has seen many exciting projects completed over the summer months that we hope will improve the student experience at Stevenson. Much of this has been made possible with the support of our community and for that, we are extremely grateful.

When school starts, we look forward to carrying on the strong tradition of excellence in academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities that have been a staple of Stevenson for many years. Additionally, we look forward to working with all school community stakeholders to provide our students with a comprehensive high school experience. Livonia Public Schools and Stevenson High School prides itself as a Community with Character geared towards respectful interactions; as well as, our core elements of grit, empathy, integrity, confidence, mindfulness, responsibility, reflection, and respect.

There is no doubt that this school year will look different from past years. Our focus is and always will be student well-being. With Safe Start September and beyond, we eagerly welcome everyone back and are excited to (re)build those positive teacher-student relationships. In addition to building strong relationships and establishing rigorous academic practices, it is essential that your child feels safe at school.  In accordance with COVID-19 health and safety protocols, Stevenson High School is implementing appropriate and necessary measures. Please continue to visit our SHS Communications Corner for updates.

In closing, a partnership between the school and the home is essential to the development of our students. We are delighted that you are a part of our amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy. We look forward to working with you. Thank you in advance for your support. We will get through this!

    Pete Mazzoni, Principal

    Go Spartans!

  • Welcome Back / Student Schedules

Posted by Craig Barker on 9/3/2020 12:00:00 PM

    Dear Spartan Families,

    Student Schedules

Thank you for your patience and understanding

Student schedules are now viewable on Parent & Student Connect

The Parent Connect log-in link can be found on the SHS website under Quick Links.

In addition, please have your child sign in to their school email account for messages from their teachers – they will share a Google Classroom code, which will allow your child to join the synchronous (live) learning sessions. Each course will have a different code.

Please see a short Welcome Back Video from our Student Senate:

    Attendance Procedures for Parents

Student absences will be recorded by the teacher during each period of the day If the student is not present during the synchronous learning session. To excuse an absence, parents will need to 1) call the home school attendance line (734-744-2660) and follow the prompts, or 2) fill out the “Report an Absence” Google Form on the school website under Quick Links. Parents/Guardians should report excused absences for their students daily by 12:00 p.m.  Absences will not be excused if reported after 12:00 p.m. the day following the absence. Livonia Public Schools Board of Education Policy deems ten absences in a class during a given semester as an excessive amount.

    Student Expectations

    Have a GREAT weekend!
