  • SHS Transportation Notes

Posted by SHS Admins on 9/22/2022 3:00:00 PM

Two items of note regarding transportation:

    1. The use of Stevenson Highway (the temporary road to the north of campus - off of Curtis Rd.) is for arrival only in the morning. No one should use this road other than for arrival in the morning. Vehicles using this route to exit create concerns as the road is one lane only. Having vehicles traveling in opposite directions on a one-lane road presents safety concerns.

    2. Use of the Church (West of Campus) - We do not have permission to use this space for drop off or pick up of students.

This applies both before and after school. We enjoy a healthy relationship with the people at the Church and need to be respectful of this request.

We will also communicate this message with our students.

    Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

    Pete Mazzoni

  • SHS Welcome Back Updates & Information

Posted by SHS Administration on 8/22/2022 3:00:00 PM

    Dear Spartans

The SHS Student Handbook has been updated and is viewable on the SHS webpage.

There are few areas that we would like to bring to your attention.

    Attendance (P. 8 - SHS Handbook)

Having 10 or more absences in one or more classes during a semester is considered excessive. Students who have 10 or more absences will be contacted by their administrator. If students are healthy, the expectation is that they regularly attend school. When possible, please schedule appointments outside of the school day.  All absences should be reported to the office of the student’s assistant principal.  Click on this link to report a student absence.

Cell Phone Use & Ear Buds (P. 15 - SHS Handbook)

In simplest terms, cell Phones are not permitted in the classroom. Only, if used for an educational purpose and with teacher approval, will cell phones be permitted to be used in the classroom. Otherwise, cell phones need to be turned off and put away. Headphones and earbuds are not permitted for use or on/in ears.

Dress Code (P.16 – SHS Handbook)

This past spring, we simplified our student dress code.  In simplest terms, we expect our students to dress neatly and appropriately, so we can provide and maintain a safe school environment.

Students are expected to wear a shirt that fully covers their torso and is fitted under the arms, bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts, dresses, leggings, etc.), and shoes that are appropriate for school activities (PE, shop class, science class, etc.).  We do allow students to wear hats and head coverings but do not allow students to wear hoods up over their heads since it becomes a safety and security issue when trying to recognize and identify students.

Removal from Extra Curricular Activities (P.28 – SHS Handbook)

A student may be denied participation in these activities by exhibiting behavior that is inappropriate. Students that are not passing four (4) classes will be ineligible to attend extracurricular school dances. Grades used for verification will be the previous IPR or card marking date nearest the date of the dance.

Below is other important Back to School Information.

    1st Semester Schedules

Student schedules will become viewable in MiStar (ParentConnect & StudentConnect) on August 31.

    9th Grade Orientation: September 6 (7:25 AM - 10:40 AM)

On Tuesday, September 6, we will be hosting a 9th grade orientation starting at 7:25 AM in the Performing Arts Center. Immediately after this program, 9th graders will eat lunch before they attend all their classes through an abbreviated class schedule.

1st Day of School: Tuesday, September 6

All students* (9th, 10th, 11th, & 12th graders) will have an abbreviated 1st day of school on Tuesday, September 6. Our shortened day will start at 11:15 AM and end at 2:20  PM. Buses will run on a 4-hour delay, so 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who ride the bus will need to plan accordingly.  Students who are enrolled in LCTC courses will need to report to the Community Room (K15) during their scheduled LCTC course(s) since these courses will officially start on Wednesday, September 7. The Bell Schedule will be shared as we get closer to the 1st day of school.

    Wednesday, September 7:
Normal Daily Schedule (7:25 AM - 2:20 PM)

Starting on Wednesday, September 7th, all students except those who have a 1/2 block at the Career Center will need to report to Stevenson prior to 7:25 AM. Students will then attend all of their classes as we follow times that have been set for our Daily Time Schedule . Students will be dismissed at 2:20 PM unless they are taking an optional 7th hour class.

LCTC Bus Schedule Starting Wednesday, September 7

Students who have a 1/2 block LCTC course and are planning to ride the Career Center bus need to report to the SHS bus loop prior to 7:05 AM. Click here for the most up-to-date listing of times and locations for the LCTC bus schedule.

    Student Drop Off/Pick up

Students will be able to enter the building starting at 6:45 AM on a normal school day.  Students can be dropped off in our front parking lot (Main Entrance), student parking lot (Door #24), or back parking lot. Doors #1 (Main Entrance), #24 (Student Parking Lot), and #51 (Bus Loop) will be the only doors unlocked. Once school starts, students must enter the building through Door #1 (Main Entrance).

    Upcoming Dates

    ·  Open House: Wednesday, September 14 at 7 PM

    ·  Picture Day: Friday, September 16

    ·  Homecoming Dance: Saturday, October 8

    ·  Picture Retake Day: Friday, October 21

    All the best!

  • Spartan Welcome 2022

Posted by SHS Admins on 8/17/2022 2:00:00 PM

    Dear Spartans,

I hope that everyone has been able to enjoy the summer months. We are looking forward to seeing everyone return to school next month. Many have already been back on campus for various activities, sports, and events. A huge "Spartan" thank you to everyone who assisted with the Fall Clean-Up this past weekend. I am grateful that we have such a supportive school community.

If you have not done so, please complete the Fall Re-enrollment update. Recently, the district sent an email to inform you that the "Fall Re-enrollment Update" needs to be completed by all families for each student before the school year begins. This replaces the traditional paper copy of the "pink emergency card" and it is critical that all information is updated.

To access the Updates, log in to your Parent Connect account and click on the red text “Fall Re-Enrollment Confirmation.” Please update all sections in the portal. Thank you for your assistance. If you have trouble signing into Parent Connect, please email

Additionally, there are Stevenson Back to School Forms & Links that we ask you to look at. This information is broken down into two categories: Grades 9-11 & Grade 12. Please look at the forms that correspond to your student.

Spartan Walk – Monday, August 29 from 10:00 am -2:00 pm

We would like to welcome all 9th graders and students new to Stevenson High School an opportunity to come into the building prior to school starting.

The SHS Administration is working on updating the Student Handbook for the 2022-23 school year. Once this is completed, we will inform everyone.

Should you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.

    (734) 744-2660.

All the best! Looking forward to a great year!

    Go Spartans!

    Pete Mazzoni
