    Screen Shots/Recordings:

We know that the first days of school can be fun and exciting but we are asking everyone in the Roosevelt Community to please refrain from taking pictures of your child's Zoom or Google Meet screen and posting publicly. Thank you for respecting the privacy of our students!

    Library Program:

During the summer, the Livonia Public Schools media specialists reached out to the Livonia Public Library to form a collaboration so that all Livonia Public Schools students have the opportunity to receive a Public Library Card!

It is simple - you only need to fill out a single Google Form! With this library card, students will have access to ebooks, audiobooks and more that they can access from a Chromebook, a desktop or laptop, or through an app on a phone or other mobile device. Students may also have access to the curbside pick-up services for physical books. The public librarians will send an email with your student’s library card number to your student’s LPS email. Due to the volume of requests from LPS students, they’ve asked that you please allow up to one week to receive your confirmation email.

You can view the form here and complete it now. You only need to fill it out once per student. We ask that if your student already has a library card, you still fill out the form so that we know which of our students have access to these resources. Please have your student(s) watch the video with you - they can meet the Livonia public librarians!

    Here are the links:

    Sensory Path:

Our sensory path has been installed this August! It’s ready for our friends to hop, skip, jump and count their way down the hall! We cannot wait for our first customers to try it out!

    Important Reminders:

Full learning days this week will include three learning sessions.

    • Grades 1, 3 will be at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm
    • Grades K, 2, 4 will be at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm
    • Asynchronous learning will begin this week
    • Special Area teachers will be joining live lessons over the remainder of the month

We’ve begun our wonderful adventure together this week. It has been sad without our favorite little people but it will make our reunification that much more enjoyable! We look forward to many more weeks of learning and laughter! Thank you for your continued support!

    Respectfully,

    Mrs. Diana Shahin, Ed.S.

     Teacher Assignments:

Teacher assignments were posted in Parent Connect and you should have received a welcome email from your child’s teacher. In the email, you should have directions for  entering the Google Classroom.  You should also have directions to find your child’s email and password on Parent Connect.   The first day of school is Tuesday, September 8th.  It is a half day of school so teachers will have 1-2 teaching blocks in the morning.

Teacher Meet & Greet and Material Pick Up:

Next week, all students (including Livonia Virtual) are invited to see their classrooms, meet their teacher, and pick up materials. Teachers have sent out emails containing important dates and information about next week’s Meet and Greet. We will have fewer live teaching sessions so we can stagger the Meet and Greets to allow for added meeting times.  When you come to Roosevelt please wear a mask, bring only one adult and enter at the door specified by your classroom teacher. Thank you for supporting our Safe Start September!

     First Weeks Learning Priorities:

Every year, during the first few weeks of school, we focus on building relationships, learning routines and feeling comfortable with school. Students will be building their stamina to return to learning.  This week teachers and students will be focusing on practicing routines and expectations during classroom meetings. We need your help to make this successful. Encourage your Roosevelt Tigers to:

    • Be on time and prepared to learn for each session
    • Wear school appropriate clothing
    • Find a quiet learning spot and stay for the session
    • Notify your teacher if you need to leave the screen
    • Keep yourself muted unless directed otherwise by your teacher
    • Keep your video on for the whole lesson
    • Avoid eating during a lesson
    • Be respectful to your teacher and peers
    • Be engaged and ask questions
    • Try your best and have a growth mindset!!

     First Day Schedule:

All students will start with the same daily schedule. Every teacher will host three live lessons each full day of school. All odd number grades (1,3) will meet on odd hours (9, 11, 1). All even number grades (K, 2, 4) will meet on even hours (10, 12, 2). Teachers will be taking attendance for online learning sessions.

Tuesday, (9-8-20) is a half day. Teachers will have two sessions.

    • 1, 3 will be at 9 and 11 am
    • K, 2, 4 will be at 10 am and 12 pm

Thursday, (9-10-20) evening is our late night Meet and Greet hours. Please refer to the signup genius sent by your child’s classroom teacher for available appointments.

Full learning days will include three learning sessions.

    • Grades 1, 3 will be at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm
    • Grades K, 2, 4 will be at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm

Once Safe Start September ends, our in person student day will move to 9:10 - 3:25. Our day for virtual students will not change.
