Author pays special visit to Kennedy and Webster schools
What if … a nationally renowned author paid a visit to your school?
It would be an awesome day, that’s for sure! And, students at Kennedy Elementary and Webster Elementary know this first-hand after welcoming Sandra Markle, author of the “What If” series of books, which include favorites such as, “What if You Had Animal Eyes,” and “What if You Had T-Rex Teeth.”
Markle chatted with Kennedy and Webster students this week, shared writing tips, conducted science experiments and even held a book signing for all students who had pre-ordered a book.
“She was so engaging,” said Alicia Bashawaty, media specialist at Kennedy. “The kids were so excited to have her here.”
Markle has written more than 200 nonfiction books for children and has won numerous national awards. She says she writes because she wants to share her love of science with children.
As a former elementary science teacher, Markle is a nationally known science education consultant and several of her books are used in science curricula around the country.
Markle lives in Lakewood Ranch, Florida with her husband Skip Jeffery, who is a photographer.
