I hope that this letter finds you all well. I want to personally thank you all for your patience regarding NHS applications which were supposed to be due at the end of March. I have received many emails and messages about applications and when they will be due. I discussed with the administration and the NHS selection committee the best course of action moving forward.
It's been decided that applications will be due upon our return to school in the fall. This way, students will be able to continue earning community service hours throughout the summer (as many have reached out to me saying that their plans fell through due to COVID-19).
One major change to the application requirements is that we are not going to require any staff recommendation forms be turned in. If you already turned them in, I will disregard them and they will not be looked at by the committee. With everything going on and the challenges we are all facing, I do not want staff or students to worry about this piece of the application.
The new due date for applications will be Friday, September 18th by 3 p.m. We will make every attempt to have an induction to honor the new members in October (if time/location/etc. permits).
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. I look forward to working with the 20-21 chapter of the National Honor Society. Judging by the commitment I have already witnessed, I know this is once again going to be a solid group of leaders.
