Niji-Iro Update 6-24-19

Dear Niji-Iro Families,

にじいろ小学校 保護者の皆様へ

Sixth grade graduation! We said goodbye to our sixth grade students following their graduation ceremony on Thursday. It was a beautiful ceremony where the kindergarten students sang to our sixth graders, and each graduate gave a speech in both Japanese and English. As I said in my speech, I could not be more proud to send this group of students off to middle school. This is an amazing group of kind, supportive, friendly, and talented students. These are the types of students you want in your schools and the people you want in your community. They will all be missed next year, and I hope they will come back to visit because they will always be part of our Niji-Iro Family.

Music Concert DVDs/音楽会DVD

We are aware that two songs from the music concert were omitted from the DVDs that went home and that the quality is not as good as last year. I have spoken with the staff at Churchill, and they will be burning new copies that include all the songs. If you would like to exchange the disc you have for a new one or would like to return your disc, I will be at Holmes Middle School Monday through Wednesday this week. Please arrive between 8:00-12:00 as the staff has shorter hours in the summer. If you cannot make it to Holmes this week, we will have copies that can be exchanged or purchased when school starts in August. I apologize for the inconvenience.

We need help watering our garden and trees over the summer. Please click on the following link to sign up for times to help with the watering:

Summer Literacy Activities/夏休みの読書アクティビティ

It is important that students continue reading for 20 minutes each day to prevent the summer slide.

Reading can very much be a family activity. Find time to read as a family or even listen to books if you are traveling by car this summer. I have included a few links below with some summer reading activities.

I wish you all a fun-filled and restful summer!
