Roosevelt Elementary School Reminders

Posted by WILLIAM GREEN on 8/29/2019

Good afternoon Roosevelt families,

A fantastic first full day of school at Roosevelt.  Students went outside to play at lunch and second recess.   Our first lunch period of the year went well as we continue to refine our routines and procedures.  Roosevelt Tigers are showing some real "grit" these first few days of school.

PTA MEETING TONIGHT

If your schedule permits, please join our PTA meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the LMC.  We have a great PTA at Roosevelt Elementary School!

CURRICULUM NIGHT IS TOMORROW, SEPTEMBER 5

As a reminder, tomorrow is Curriculum Night for grades k-4. Curriculum Night is a great opportunity to hear from your child's teacher about the curriculum, understand the way their classroom will operate and build those relationships with our staff.

See below for tomorrow's schedule.

Curriculum Night Schedule

  • Kindergarten presentation in the LMC at 5:15 p.m.
  • Grade 1-2 at 6:30 p.m. in their classrooms.
  • ASD Kindergarten at 6:30 p.m. in their classrooms.
  • Grades 3-4(Anderson, Shelide) at 7:15 p.m. in their classrooms.

Curriculum Night is for adults only.  Please have an adult member of your family attend.  Although childcare is not provided by our staff, feel free to utilize our playground if a caretaker needs a place to watch other children.

PINK EMERGENCY CARDS

Yesterday your child brought home important "first-day" information.  This included TWO pink emergency cards.  Please update the information on both cards, sign them and return them to school by Friday.  It is very important that we have updated emergency contact numbers as well.  Please check your voice mailbox to make sure it is not full so we can leave a message if necessary.

Attached are the Livonia Public Schools Student Livnet Access Policy, the Student and Parent/Guardian Livnet Access Authorization Form, the Parent & Athlete Concussion Information Sheet.   The Elementary Handbook also contains important information about school processes and answers many frequently asked questions.  These documents are for your review and signature of your Pink Emergency Cards acknowledges receipt of these documents.

TRANSPORTATION/DISMISSAL

As a reminder dismissal on full days is at 3:59 p.m. for K-4 and 3:30 p.m. for ASD preschool and kindergarten.  For families of bussers, please recall that you should be at your child's bus stop 7-10 minutes early and be prepared for possible 7-10 minute delays coming home this first week of school.  Routes are being adjusted, bus drivers are reviewing rules of bus safety, and there is still road construction in many local areas that can slow down transportation.  Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your patience and diligence with the numerous amounts of school communications that have been sent your way.  We are off to a great start!
